ST. MARTIN PARISH, LA. (KLFY) — A Breaux Bridge woman was arrested as part of an ongoing investigation involving a former fifth-grade teacher in the parish who was charged with first degree rape and other crimes against children, the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation (LBI) said.
Cortney Burleigh, 37, of Breaux Bridge, was arrested on April 16, with the following charges:
- 1 Count of cruelty to juveniles (Felony)
- 1 Count of indecent behavior with juveniles/accessory after the fact (Felony)
- 1 Count of obstruction of justice (Felony)
The LBI was assisting the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office in the investigation of the former fifth-grade teacher at Teche Elementary School, Marisa Noel, officials said.
According to the LBI, additional crimes were discovered which led to the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office arresting Noel on additional charges. Later on, Burleigh was arrested on these charges for her involvement in the crime…
