EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Last week, the City of East Lansing announced that the majority of the Bailey Street parking lot will be closed to the public. This means only 34 public parking spaces will remain, with the private lot totaling 87 spaces.
The private spaces were pulled after the East Lansing City Council rejected proposals from multiple developers over five years. Local businesses that rely on these spaces are growing concerned about the potential impact on customer traffic.
These changes will take effect October 2nd and have left nearby business owners scrambling. Despite the public’s overwhelming request for more public parking, no developer has brought forward a plan that includes an on-site solution.
