Suspect in Wells Hall meth arrest appears in court Friday

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – The man accused of possessing chemicals that could be used to manufacture meth inside Wells Hall on Michigan State University’s campus appeared in court Friday for a pre-examination conference.

Xin Tong, 31, faces two felony charges: operating and maintaining a methamphetamine laboratory and malicious destruction of a building.

Tong was arrested last week after Wells Hall was evacuated and closed because of chemicals discovered inside the building.

According to court documents, Tong was carrying multiple bags when he was confronted by police. Officers later obtained a search warrant for the bags and discovered several bottles containing substances commonly used in the manufacture of methamphetamine…
