Owosso celebrates grand opening of affordable townhome complex

OWOSSO, Mich. (WNEM) – A Shiawassee County community is celebrating the addition of new townhomes designed for low-to-moderate income families.

A grand opening was held on Wednesday, May 6 for the Washington Park Townhomes in Owosso. The development adds a total of 16 new townhomes in an effort to bring more affordable housing to the area.

The Washington Park project cost about $8 million, according to the Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership (SEDP). The townhomes have two- and three-bedroom options and a playground. The cost of rent depends on income level.

“Washington Park is a huge success for our community, and I am thrilled that the Shiawassee County Land Bank was able to assist in getting this project off the ground” said Greg Brodeur, Chair of the Shiawassee Board of Commissioners, as well as a board member to the County Land Bank. “This is another great example of what the tools available to us through the land bank can do for our community.”…
