LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – A former Fayette County Public Schools principal who sued the district for retaliation is now facing a similar legal battle in Florida.
Marlon Ball filed a lawsuit against the Gadsden County, Fla., school board and superintendent, alleging retaliation after he reported that a school resource officer sexually harassed two students. Ball said the superintendent then removed him from his high school principal position and reassigned him.
Florida lawsuit
Ball’s attorney, Brandon Meeks, told a Gray Media sister station in Tallahassee that the reassignment was an act of retaliation.
“You should give an award to someone who does this kind of thing, right, but after that he’s fired, he’s terminated, and they’ve used that as a pretext for which to terminate him,” Meeks said.
Fayette County lawsuit
Ball previously claimed retaliation in a lawsuit against the Fayette County school board and superintendent. When Ball was principal at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in late 2022, district leaders were investigating complaints of what they described as allegations of inappropriate conduct.
