Former Lexington principal files lawsuit in Florida. He previously got $500K in Fayette

The former principal of Lexington’s Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, who received a $500,000 settlement from Fayette County Public Schools in a legal case, has filed a lawsuit against a Florida school district where he was principal.

In Fayette County, where Ball was employed from July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023, the district determined Ball had committed no wrongdoing after placing him on leave amid an investigation. Ball filed a lawsuit against FCPS claiming retaliation, which the district settled for $500,000 in 2023.

Last week, on July 20, Ball filed a federal “whistleblower” lawsuit in a Florida U.S. District Court against the Gadsden County School district, where he was hired as the principal of Gadsden County High School in June 2025 and reassigned in December…
