A 33.3-acre stretch of land near 76th Street and Alcove Avenue — currently zoned for single-family homes — could soon be rezoned for General Industrial use, and that’s just one of ten zone change requests heading before Lubbock’s Planning and Zoning Commission.
Ten properties across four council districts are up for rezoning, with proposals ranging from converting commercial land to single-family subdivisions to pushing heavy and industrial zoning into areas currently mapped for residential use.
The commission makes recommendations; City Council has final say. Details on all ten cases are posted in the Planning and Zoning Commission agenda. The meeting is scheduled for August 4 at 6 p.m. in Citizens Tower Council Chambers at 1314 Avenue K.
