During a mayoral debate at the Madison Public Library in February 2023, Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway and challenger Gloria Reyes butted heads on issues ranging from housing to public safety.
Rhodes-Conway expressed doubts about body-worn cameras preventing both police misconduct and police violence then, and has continued to be indecisive on the matter.
Reyes pushed for more urgency on the topic, telling the Cap Times at the time, “Some will say we cannot afford the implementation of body cameras. After watching the murder of Tyre Nichols, I say we can’t afford not to have them.”…
