With Tennessee’s three newly drawn congressional districts, one of Shelby County’s three districts has some of the largest economic investments in state history.
Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District, which includes 17 full or partial counties, boasts more than $3.36 billion worth of investments and the addition of more than 3,600 jobs since February 2021, according to data from the Tennessee Department of Community and Economic Development (TNECD).
These figures don’t include the $200 million investment from Amazon in 2020 or Clarksville’s trio of investments: Project Crucible, Microvast Power Solutions or Hankook Tire. While a portion of Montgomery County, and some of Clarksville, is included in the 5th District, all those previously mentioned projects (which account for more than $7.4 billion worth of investments) reside within 7th District boundaries…
