Free, fast, public Wi-Fi in Orange Mound

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Orange Mound community is becoming more connected with upgraded public Wi-Fi, which city leaders say will open new opportunities for residents.

Connecting 901 will provide free, fast public Wi-Fi at the Orange Mound Community Center, the library, and the Melrose stadium.

Orange Mound is one of 116 access points in the city.

M Street Fiber has invested $237 million in this project and plans to invest more than $800 million in total to bring Fiber internet connectivity to 85 percent of the city of Memphis.

“It’s a great amenity for us to have. We know that there are many families who don’t have that connectivity. They are using cell phones to be able to access the Internet. This is going to be give them high-speed connection that’s going to be able to allow them to be much more efficient to do things they need to do, “ said Memphis Mayor Paul Young.
