Arrest made after woman shot in the hands in Whitehaven

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman is now in custody and charged with attempted murder after being accused of a shooting in 2022.

Dominique Neal, 29, is charged with Criminal attempt first-degree murder and employment of a firearm with intent to commit a felony.

On July 21, 2022, Memphis Police responded to Methodist South Hospital regarding a shooting call. Officers found a female victim suffering from gunshot wounds to her hands.

The victim stated that she went to meet up with her boyfriend to give him a cell phone in Whitehaven on East Shelby Drive.

MPD says when she pulled up beside her boyfriend’s car, she recognized a female known as “Dominique” or “Monique” sitting in his passenger’s seat.

That is when Dominique got out of the car and fired several shots at the victim, hitting her in her hands, according to police.

The victim then drove herself to the hospital.

Investigators say they received a statement from the victim while she was in the hospital. The victim was able to positively identify Dominique Neal in a photo lineup.
