Second man sentenced after victim burned alive in ‘The Zone’ in downtown Phoenix

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man will spend nearly four decades behind bars in connection with a brutal murder in which a man was set on fire inside a homeless encampment in downtown Phoenix.

Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell announced that Isaiah Baskin was sentenced to 38 1/2 years in prison for the 2023 murder of Geoffrey Rugwiro. Baskin was the second suspect convicted in Rugwiro’s death.
