Minneapolis police shut down part of the city’s south side Friday as officers responded to reports of a possible shooting on Nicollet Avenue. Squad cars and investigators clustered around the 4000 block of Nicollet Avenue South while crews combed the area and spoke with witnesses.
FOX 9 reported that Minneapolis police were investigating a “potential shooting” at the scene and said its newsroom was still working to lock in details. The outlet noted that information was preliminary and that coverage would be updated as more became available.

Nicollet Avenue has already seen more than its share of trouble this year, which helps explain why a cluster of police lights there quickly drew attention from neighbors and reporters. In April, a woman was hospitalized after a shooting on Nicollet Mall, according to CBS Minnesota. Back in January, a confrontation near Nicollet and 26th Street involving federal agents sparked national coverage and protests, per AP News. Earlier that month, another daytime shooting on a different stretch of Nicollet led police to publicly urge anyone with information to come forward.
