Man charged with allegedly shooting father in the neck in Edina

EDINA, Minn. — A 26-year-old Brooklyn Park man is charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot his father in the neck last week in Edina.

Mahamoud Farah is charged with second-degree attempted murder and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition after being arrested May 1 in connection with a shooting that morning.

Edina Police were called to the 6300 block of York Avenue South shortly after 10 a.m. for a reported shooting. When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound to the left side of his neck. The man was transported to HCMC, where doctors determined the bullet had hit and broken his C2 vertebrae, according to the criminal complaint.
