Immigration decline reversing post-COVID growth in Stockton, across US

Stockton is among the largest cities in the U.S. losing residents as the post-COVID rebound for many metropolises stalled or reversed in 2025, the latest Census Bureau data shows.

Stockton’s population, at 324,597, is down 0.01%, an overall loss of 46 residents, the latest data shows. Meanwhile Lodi, at 69,100, is up 0.51% with a sum total of 353 new residents, and Manteca, at 96,693, is up 2.39%, with 2,314 new residents.

That comes despite Stockton, the 11th largest city in the state, being California’s most affordable large city for homebuyers, a recent WalletHub report found…
