In several K-12 school districts across Stanislaus County, boards of education include teen members who provide a student perspective. In the Ceres and Turlock unified school districts, four high school seniors were selected to serve as student representatives on the boards for the 2026-27 school year.
Student representatives give campus updates to their schoolmates, communicate student concerns and perspectives to trustees, attend board of education meetings and serve as a link between students and district leadership.
Ceres Representatives Prioritize Student Voices
For Ceres Unified School District, seniors Emma Juarez of Ceres High School and Elijah “Eli” Younan of Central Valley High School were selected as student representatives for the upcoming school year.
Younan has been a student ambassador to introduce freshmen to Central Valley, a member of the STEP club for students who want to be teachers in the future, and an Advancement Via Individual Determination tutor for students in his class. He said he hopes to become a history teacher…
