New aquatic center draws crowds as $17M Modesto park reopens

(FOX40.COM) — A new aquatic center is already drawing attention in Modesto as the newly renamed and renovated 4th Street Park officially opened to the public Friday following a two-year, $17 million renovation.

City leaders describe the new aquatic center as a “mini water park,” featuring splash features, water slides, and a large dumping bucket for a major soak. The park also includes a swimming pool staffed by trained lifeguards, playgrounds, basketball courts, a shaded picnic area, a skate park, and more.

“Families now have an affordable option that’s close to home without having to travel outside the city limits to have a place to cool off and make memories with family and friends,” said Modesto City Council Member Eric Alvarez…
