STOCKTON, Calif. — The San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors declared a local emergency today as invasive golden mussels continue to spread in the San Joaquin Delta.
County leaders said the species poses a growing threat and are asking the state for more support, resources and coordination to address the issue.
The county said the invasive golden mussels could impact the delta, a critical source of drinking water. The delta provides water for agricultural production and recreation for communities throughout California.
