A retired Navy veteran who once maintained aircraft for the Blue Angels has been appointed to lead veterans’ services across Northern Alabama.
Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Jeff Newton named Chris Phillips as the department’s new District I manager, overseeing veterans service offices in 17 counties – including Madison County. Phillips assumes the role June 1.
Phillips retired from the Navy in 2019 as a petty officer first class and joined ADVA that same year as a veterans service officer. He has spent five years serving veterans in Fayette, Pickens and Lamar counties and was recently named Veterans Advocate of the Year for 2025…
