ALABAMA — Most schools across Alabama will be closed Monday, May 25, 2026, in observance of Memorial Day, the federal holiday honoring U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the armed forces.
Public school systems throughout Alabama traditionally cancel classes for the holiday each year. Many districts are also nearing the end of the school year, with some students already beginning summer break by late May. Districts that remain in session are expected to suspend classes for the day.
