TROY, Ala. – More than 250 high school sophomores from across Alabama have been selected to attend the Alabama Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar at Troy University.
Schools across the state nominate student leaders to participate in the three-day seminar. Ambassadors engage in leadership workshops, facilitated discussions, team-building activities and service projects designed to help students strengthen their leadership skills and discover how they can make a positive impact in their schools and communities.
Throughout the weekend, ambassadors will partner with several nonprofit organizations through hands-on service projects benefiting the Troy community and organizations across Alabama. Service partners include Troy Animal Rescue Project, where students will create dog toys for rescue animals, Bags of Hope, which provides encouragement and support to breast cancer patients, Common Ground Troy, a nonprofit focused on mentorship and community outreach, and Keep Troy Beautiful, an organization dedicated to environmental stewardship and community beautification efforts…
