Rapper and potential Florida congressional candidate Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell is urging highly-rated black recruits to decommit or withdraw from universities in states with restrictive voting laws, specifically targeting Alabama where his highly rated nephew is a football commit.
Campbell joins the Congressional Black Caucus in asking black athletes to boycott college football and basketball teams in Alabama, Tennessee, Louisiana, Florida, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas and Georgia. They are all states who have used a supreme court ruling to justify congressional redistricting to help the Republican Party maintain control of congress.
“This isn’t just about NIL deals,” Campell posted on Facebook. “It’s about making a stand for Black representation and valuing self-worth above all else.”
