A popular Alabama restaurant known for serving some of the best sushi in the state out of an unexpected location — a gas station — recently made a big move.
Tucked away inside a Marathon gas station for more than a decade, Bayou Fresh Seafood & Deli in Jasper has garnered a reputation for having the “best gas station sushi in Alabama,” but in January of this year, owner Zhu Jianjun decided it was time to make the transition to a space of their own.
“We had enough business, so we tried a little bigger,” said Jianjun, who is from China and bought the business in 2012.
Now located at 200 Highway 78 East in Jasper in a large building that previously housed Oklahoma-based breakfast chain Jimmy’s Egg as well as local spot Cafe Bill’s, the new Bayou Fresh Seafood location still offers the same dishes its loyal customers over the past decade have grown so fond of, just with more places to sit and enjoy it…
