MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — The Myrtle Beach City Council adopted the Horry County All Hazards Mitigation plan following the approval from FEMA.
City leaders say the move will help Myrtle Beach better prepare for disasters, including hurricanes, flooding, wildfires, tornadoes, severe storms and extreme heat.
The plan, developed with Horry County Emergency Management and multiple local jurisdictions, is also expected to save Myrtle Beach flood insurance policyholders more than $1 million annually through continued participation in FEMA’s Community Rating System.
