Chrome and classics fill Chicago Ridge Cruise Night

The steady rumble of engines and the shine of polished chrome filled the parking lot Thursday night as dozens of classic cars rolled into Glenn Maker Post 1160 in Chicago Ridge for another weekly Cruise Night gathering.

More than 80 vehicles lined the lot outside the American Legion post, 10739 Ridgeland Ave., on May 28, drawing car enthusiasts, families and curious visitors who wandered row by row admiring everything from vintage muscle cars to restored cruisers.

Among the proud owners showing off their vehicles was Joe Spinazzola, of Alsip, who brought his 1956 Mercury Montclair to the event. Nearby, Mark Winge, of Palos Hills, displayed his 1940 Plymouth Coupe, while Robert Velquza, of Chicago Ridge, had his 1970 Pontiac GTO on display.

The weekly event, held every Thursday beginning at 5:30 p.m., has become a summertime tradition in the southwest suburbs, offering a casual place for neighbors to gather and share their love of classic automobiles…
