(WIFR) – An esophageal cancer survivor is back to enjoying basic pleasures — like eating the foods she loves — thanks to a specialized procedure.

Carol Smeja says she had none of the classic warning signs of esophageal cancer, like acid reflux and a history of smoking. However, after nine months of dealing with stress around eating, combined with unexplained weight loss, muscle loss, fatigue and cognitive changes, she decided to get checked out.
