Under Surveillance: Additional Cameras Installed in the Dorms

Dominican University has announced a new major security camera installation project across its residence hall. Administration frames the project as a safety necessity. However, this has sparked doubts in certain students concerned with a potential breach of privacy.

In an email sent to resident students on August 13, 2026, Sasha Santiago, the Director of Campus safety, announced that the project was nearly finished. According to Santiago, the initiative is designed to “enhance the safety and security of our residential spaces” by promoting a safe living environment, protecting school property, and assisting security in reviewing safety incidents.
