Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island received a generous donation of healthy, beautiful orchids from Marco Island resident Cindy Dohm on Sept. 12. Dohm had learned of the Garden Club’s established orchid, bromeliad and shade plant garden at Leigh Plummer Park on Barfield Drive and generously donated some of her varied species of orchids to the club to add to the park’s collection.
Marianne Foley, chairperson and co-founder of the Leigh Plummer Park committee of Calusa Garden Club, welcomed Dohm to the park and they discussed how each orchid variety could be added to the existing mounted orchids.
On Saturday, Sept. 19, co-founder of the Leigh Plummer Park garden Sue Oldershaw, club president Linda Colombo, and club members Nanette Baumgardner and Pam Bodenhamer met at the park and did the precision work of mounting Dohm’s collection of orchids in the garden in the trees of the park…
