Metro Council considers expanding free legal help for Nashville renters facing eviction

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A proposal is moving through Metro Council could expand access to free legal help for low-income renters facing eviction in Davidson County.

The plan would formally establish a Right to Counsel program through Metro Planning, aimed at helping tenants navigate eviction proceedings with legal representation. Supporters say the effort is designed to keep families housed and prevent vulnerable residents from losing their homes because they cannot afford an attorney.
