NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Carnival is going to look and feel a little bit different next year.
The New Orleans City Council passed an ordinance that makes changes to Mardi Gras based on recommendations from the Mayor’s Mardi Gras Advisory Council and the New Orleans Police Department.

One of the first things parade goers may notice is that the no-parking period is being doubled from two to four hours. The start times of parades will be different too.
“Many of your favorite parades are going to start a half an hour to an hour earlier,” said Councilman JP Morell. “That is important because, A, it helps reduce costs and overtime, and B, and more importantly, it allows our men, and women of EMS, police and sanitation to actually go home between parades and sleep.”…
