An accident on the Causeway temporarily closed traffic heading Northbound towards Mandeville, according to the Greater New Orleans Expressway Commission.
At around 6:30 p.m., LADOTD’s map showed traffic backed up from W. Esplanade Avenue to the start of the bridge.
A source told WWL Louisiana that the accident took place at around the 4.8 mile marker. A van towing a trailer jackknifed and hit the side rails, crushing its front end and causing its wheels to fall off. The trailer then continued untethered down the bridge. The accident blocked both lanes…
