JEFFERSON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Councilman Hans Liljeberg, who represents Metairie, said while he is a fan of the 30-court tennis complex project, he will no longer pursue constructing it on the property of Bright Playground following the wave of opposition it received.
“I have come to the conclusion that while a USTA tennis hub, basketball clinic and sports performance and injury prevention arena is a great project for Jefferson Parish, Bright doesn’t want it,” Liljeberg said.

According to Bright Booster Club board member Sidney Blakemore, several members within the community met with Liljeberg earlier this week and say they were shocked but happy to hear Liljeberg’s announcement.
