Pursuit of home invasion suspect ends with man jumping off Causeway Bridge

NEW ORLEANS, La. (WVUE) – A 45-year-old Napoleonville man accused of an early morning home invasion and two stabbings in Assumption Parish was arrested Wednesday (May 6) after jumping off the Causeway Bridge into Lake Pontchartrain, authorities said.

The suspect — identified as Kentrell Tremaine Sanders — allegedly tried but failed to carjack a victim at the foot of the Causeway Bridge in Mandeville, and wound up stranded on the bridge when the truck he was accused of stealing ran out of gas, according to authorities.

Sanders’ alleged crime spree began around 6 a.m., according to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The agency said a man arrived at a hospital emergency room in serious condition, seeking treatment for multiple stab wounds to his head. The victim identified Sanders as his assailant, telling deputies he awoke to see Sanders standing over him and stabbing him to the head…
