NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) — In the most remote spot on the New Orleans West Bank, a 3-month-old okapi named Sasha was the first of her species born this year in the United States.
In fact, curators at the Freeport-McMoRan Audubon Species Survival Center said only five okapi were born in U.S. facilities in 2025.
