The greater New Orleans area is under a flash flood warning through 6:30 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Severe thunderstorms were moving through the area shortly after 3 p.m., bringing wind gusts and ping pong ball-sized hail, the NWS said. An inch of rain had fallen as of 3:20 p.m., with 2 to 3 inches in one hour expected, NWS said.
