Marrero man found guilty of stabbing grandfather, roommate then setting their house on fire

A Jefferson Parish jury on Thursday voted to convict a Marrero man of viciously stabbing his 69-year-old grandfather and another roommate to death before trying to conceal the crime by setting their house ablaze.

Jarrell Jones, 37, was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder, obstruction of justice, simple arson and auto theft following a four-day trial, according to the Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office.

Jones was charged with killing his grandfather, Larry Brown, and Brown’s roommate, 60-year-old Shelton Martin Sr.
