PINE BELT, Miss. (WDAM) – The National Weather Service is still working through damage surveys to try to determine how strong numerous tornadoes were across Mississippi.
On Thursday, the Jackson, Slidell and New Orleans NWS released preliminary results for seven tornadoes. These ratings are always subject to change as crews survey more area throughout the week.
The updated preliminary results are as follows:
- Prentiss: EF-0
- Wilson Road: EF-1
- Bogue Chitto: EF-3
- Garden City: EF-3
Garden City has been upgraded from an EF-2 to an EF-3. This is the tornado that first initiated a tornado emergency. It dissipated just southeast of Bude. This same storm then produced the EF-3 tornado that went through Lincoln County.
- Enon: EF-0
- Smithburg-Dillon: EF-1
- Darbun: EF-1
The NWS Jackson upgraded the Darbun tornado from an EF-0 to an EF-1. This tornado went through Walthall and Marion counties, putting it in both NWS New Orleans and Jackson’s service area. NWS New Orleans has not had an update since 6:00 p.m. on Thursday…
