Marrero man sentenced to more than 3 decades after beating his estranged wife at bus stop

A Marrero man charged with trying to kill his estranged wife in a bloody attack at a bus stop was sentenced to more than three decades behind bars, Jefferson Parish court records show.

Julius Walker Jr., 62, was found guilty May 5 of attempted second-degree murder, violation of a protective order with battery and domestic abuse following a two-day trial.

Judge E. Adrian Adams of the 24th Judicial District Court sentenced Walker to a total of 36 years in prison during a hearing Monday, court records said.
