NEW ORLEANS — Residents of Guste Homes in Central City will have their overdue water bills forgiven after officials took another step in ongoing efforts to prevent the potential displacement of hundreds of elderly and disabled tenants.
Board members of the Housing Authority of New Orleans (HANO) unanimously voted Tuesday to pay the Sewerage and Water Board (SWBNO) about $777,650 to settle overdue water and sewer bills tied to the Guste properties. The agreement applies to residents of Guste Homes High Rise and Guste I, II and III, according to a press release.
