Portsmouth man sentenced for drug trafficking

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Moses Elijah Williams, 40, was sentenced to prison for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

In September 2025, Suffolk police conducted four controlled purchases of narcotics from Williams’ at his Portsmouth residence. Those narcotics included cocaine and heroin. In August and September 2025, Chesapeake Police also conducted multiple controlled purchases of narcotics from Williams.

Investigators with Chesapeake police later searched Williams’ residence and found a kilogram of cocaine, along with smaller quantities of methamphetamine, heroin, and cocaine base, and digital scales. A semi-automatic rifle and a handgun were also recovered…
