An Indiana woman new to The Villages was arrested on drunk driving charges after taking a golf cart off course and leaving her teenage daughter alone at a rental villa.
Angelica Crystal Holley, 44, was driving a red Yamaha golf cart at about 11:20 p.m. Sunday near County Road 462 and Powell Road in Wildwood when a police sergeant spotted her traveling over railroad tracks. She was impeding traffic on a roadway where golf carts are strictly prohibited.
A Wildwood police officer initiated a traffic stop at the 7-Eleven on County Road 462. Before the officer could make contact, Holley stepped out of the driver’s seat, threw her hands up, and announced that she was lost. She told police she had just left RJ Gator’s at Lake Sumter Landing.
The officer immediately noticed a strong odor of alcohol, bloodshot eyes, and slurred speech. When asked how much she had consumed, Holley replied, “probably like two.” She also told police she was driving on the wrong side of the road because she didn’t know where she was going, and claimed she didn’t think she needed a valid driver’s license to operate a golf cart in Florida…
