Ocala man among those injured in crash that killed one person in Hamilton County

An Ocala man had minor injuries in a four-vehicle wreck in Hamilton County that claimed the life of one person and injured three others early Saturday morning.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, the 68-year-old Ocala resident was not hospitalized.

The crash occurred along Interstate 75 by mile marker 450 shortly after 6 a.m.

Troopers said traffic on the highway was stopped and drivers were being diverted. Stopped in the outside lane, a big rig was ahead of a pickup truck and a car.

The driver of a second semi traveling along the roadway did not stop and struck the back of the car, occupied by the Ocala driver. The car then hit the back of the pickup truck, which forced it into the rear of the first big rig, FHP troopers said.
