Police chase in NW Oklahoma City ends with two in custody

OKLAHOMA CITY ( KFOR ) — Two suspects have been taken into custody after leading police on a highspeed chase through northwest Oklahoma City on Tuesday afternoon.

McIntyre Law Chopper 4 followed the chase live starting just after 4:30 p.m. as Oklahoma City Police followed a white pickup truck speeding down NE 23rd St. headed eastbound near N Western Ave.

The Oklahoma City Police Department tells News 4 officers initially tried to pull the truck over after receiving a stolen vehicle report.

The driver, instead, took off and weaved through traffic as police pursued the truck, with speeds reaching as high as 70 mph.

The truck then slammed into a pole while attempting to drive over a sidewalk on 23rd St. near N Walker, and two suspects continued to evade police on foot.

Officers were able to catch up to the suspects and take them into custody in a residential area shortly after they exited the vehicle.

One officer was taken to the hospital after receiving a gash on his forehead when the pole fell.
