Lightning strike believed to have caused morning house fire in Lee’s Summit

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The American Red Cross has been called to help a local family after lightning struck their Lee’s Summit home during Tuesday morning’s storms.

According to the Lee’s Summit Fire Department, at about 7:30 a.m., crews were called to the area of Country Lane and Northeast Clubhouse Drive on smoke coming from the attic of a home.

When units arrived, firefighters reported finding smoke coming from the attic of a two-story, single-family home, and immediately began attacking the fire inside…
