ME’s defamation suit over ‘butchered’ bodies claim heads to trial

A defamation lawsuit filed by District One Medical Examiner Deanna Oleske against a Pensacola-area funeral home director over letters sent to Escambia County’s Board of County Commissioners claiming her office “butchered” bodies during autopsies will go to trial in 2027.

Defendant Richard Trahan, director of Trahan Family Funeral Home, filed a motion for final summary judgment in the case, which means he asked Escambia County Circuit Court Judge Paul Bailey to decide the case and skip the trial.
