MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A man who was attempting to harm himself by swimming out into the ocean was saved by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
MCSO says that they were called to assist a “very distraught individual” who said he was going to swim out into the ocean without intending to return.
However, with help from MCSO Marine Deputies, along with the aviation unit and a Martin County Lifeguard, they were quickly able to realize the situation and jumped into the water to prevent the man from continuing, law enforcement says.
