Portland City Administrator focuses on fixing permitting delays, reviving downtown growth

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Portland’s new city administrator, Raymond Lee, recently finished his third full month on the job. He leads the city’s day-to-day operations as the top unelected leader in Portland.

He sat down for a wide-ranging discussion with KATU earlier this month, where he said the city’s permitting and development is one of the first areas getting his attention.

“Permitting is a key customer service that we provide to this city. They have no other choices. They have to come through us. We got to make sure that we are engaged with the customers and ensure that we’re meeting their needs, but not only their needs of today, but the needs of tomorrow,” Lee said…
