Metro spent $2.4 million on an old farm near Oregon City to restore it to its natural state

Metro has purchased a former farm property about six miles south of Oregon City as part of the agency’s natural conservation efforts.

The 120-acre property at 10585 S. New Era Road includes the spots where Beaver Creek meets Parrott Creek and the Willamette River.

Metro purchased the land in two phases, buying 50 acres for $842,150 in October 2024 and another 72 acres for $1.56 million in March.

Part of the property is part of the historic townsite of New Era, which once included a general store and post office. Parrott Creek was named for Joseph Parrott, one of the first white farmers to settle in the area in the mid-1800s…
