Gateway Transit Hub Bloodshed As Portland Man Slashed, Cops Hunt Suspect

A man was stabbed near the Gateway Transit Center in Northeast Portland on Wednesday night, leaving him with injuries that police say are not life-threatening. The Portland Police Bureau reported that officers were dispatched around 9:30 p.m. on a weapons-related call, and medics took the man to a hospital after finding him conscious and able to speak with responders.

According to KGW, officers located the victim with a slash wound to his arm in a nearby parking lot after he had boarded a MAX train. Sgt. Kevin Allen told the station the man later chose not to participate in the investigation. Early dispatch logs framed the call as a TriMet-related weapons incident, but police later clarified that the attack itself was not connected to the transit system. No suspect description was released and no arrests were reported Wednesday night.

“He was conscious and talking,” Sgt. Kevin Allen told KGW, adding that investigators are asking anyone with video or other information to contact police. The Portland Police Bureau says the search for a suspect is ongoing and that community tips could help fill in the gaps.
