Portland park vandalized, bronze statues stolen

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Bronze animal statues were recently stolen from a North Portland park, and other parts of the playground were vandalized.

The kid-friendly play area at Arbor Lodge Park was filled with sea animal sculptures for kids to interact with, but when families arrived at the park, they discovered that the sculptures, which had been there for decades, were suddenly gone.

A local mother and daughter noticed right away that the bronze statues of an alligator and an otter at the front of the park, right across from Chief Joseph School, were completely gone.

KOIN 6 News visited the park, which was designed by non-profit Harpers Playground to be welcoming to children with disabilities, and found that a turtle statue was also missing and a xylophone had been damaged, with the metal keys pried off…
